Col. 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
The slave’s service was not just to their master; it was primarily to their Lord.
In the kingdom of God, they were free men and their service would be rendered accordingly. If they did a good job, the Lord would reward them, even if their master didn’t.In a culture like ours, the same principles relate to how we treat our employers; we are to work heartily as unto the Lord.
Col. 3:24 …knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Promotion comes from the Lord; He is the one who rewards our faithfulness.
Joseph’s promotion to becoming prime minister came from God; it was the reward for his diligence, honesty, and ingenuity.
Col. 3:25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.
God is no respecter of persons and will not reward us simply because we are believers.
We must earn any advancement that comes; otherwise, God gives it another.
